On 30Jan03 the IPMS-Sumter chapter visited the Boy Scout Troop 342 of the Pee Dee Area Council of S.C. on the invitation of Scout Master James Oxendine. The Troop consists of 20 children and 10 Adult members. IPMS-Sumter members Tim Darrah, Paul Lovell, and Tony Abbott each brought in various completed plastic models from their own collections (photos 1,2,3) as a for display. After the tradtional Boy Scout opening ceremony Tony Abbott gave a short briefing on the IPMS organization and our local club chapter. Then the troop members where invited to view the completed models (photos 4,5). Then we had a question and answer period where we we explained in more detail the subjects displayed,techniques we use, and about our local club more in depth (photo6). The presentation ended with a raffle of 6 unassembled plastic kits to the 20 children. We also distributed flyers to out for our upcoming contest on 17May03, IPMS membership pamplets,and flyers on our local chapter club meetings.
